Experience relaxation, harmony, and renewal on an authentic Japanese futon.
Shiatsu literally means ‘finger pressure’ and is a refined Japanese art of bodywork that embraces the human being as a whole.
Receiving shiatsu is a deeply relaxing experience that helps prevent the daily accumulation of stress. It offers support for various physical and emotional concerns and has a positive effect on the entire person: physically, psychologically, and spiritually.
The discipline can be used preventively alongside or as support for conventional care, offering a gentle, complementary approach to body and mind. As such, it can be a valuable addition to treatments or therapeutic trajectories (such as physiotherapy, chiropractic, osteopathy, or psychotherapy).
Although shiatsu originated in Japan in its modern form, the foundations of this holistic pressure point massage lie in millennia-old Eastern wisdom. The method incorporates the energetic principles that today also form the basis of acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Through gentle, profound pressure with the thumbs and palms, combined with rotations and stretches, shiatsu supports the body’s self-regulating capacity and strengthens the body-mind balance.
In the Oriental tradition, health is seen as the harmonious flow of Ki (life energy). By working with Japanese acupressure and meridians, energetic blockages are dissolved, allowing the Ki to flow freely again. Ki can be seen as a bridge between the “primal source” – a state of pure being and peaceful inner stillness – and the formal world: your body, your mind, and the appearances of this world. When this energy flows freely, you feel vital and balanced.

During the energetic assessment, we look at the person as a whole, according to Eastern principles, to understand the core of your needs. As a shiatsu-shi – a professional shiatsu practitioner – I integrate the following views and personal touches:
“The shiatsu-shi works in the Now, grounded and with focused attention from hara (belly) and heart. He combines Eastern traditional knowledge with kata (Japanese patterns) and weaves into it his sense and inspiration of what is happening in the room at that moment, in the receiver and in himself. This creates flow.”
“Shiatsu embraces creativity and invites you to reconnect with yourself, just as music and other art forms do.”
“There is no magic formula to be suddenly cured. Greater well-being or health is a process in itself (of sometimes many small miracles). Being healed means that you are on your way, that you know how to transform your triggers in life into concrete actions that improve your quality of life step by step.”
“A shiatsu session unfolds as a dynamic exchange between the shiatsu-shi and the receiver. It is like a dance where the receiver is a source of subtle movement to which the shiatsu-shi attunes, and where the receiver counterbalances the movements of the shiatsu-shi.”
“One cannot heal an organism that does not feel safe. On the other hand, one cannot prevent an organism from healing if it feels safe. Hence, the starting point of shiatsu is to offer a safe haven”
This depends on your needs. For a first appointment, I recommend the Extra session (90 min). This allows ample time for an energetic assessment to fully tailor the experience to your specific concerns or wishes. The Standard option (60 min) focuses on deep relaxation and harmony, including a shorter assessment. For quick relaxation during a busy schedule, the Short session (30 min) is ideal; here, we only briefly check for any areas to avoid.
For children aged 7 to 12, there is a specific Child session (40 min), the perfect duration for a gentle introduction to stillness and focus.
Every encounter is unique. After a brief or extensive assessment, I invite you to take a place on a comfortable futon (a traditional Japanese mat). You usually lie on your stomach or back, but lying on your side or receiving shiatsu in a seated position is also possible for optimal comfort. Afterwards, there is time for reflection and integration. If relevant, I will provide a Do-In yoga exercise to support or enhance the benefits of your visit.
The practice is located in Ixelles, near VUB/ULB and just 150m from metro Delta. The location is on the border of Auderghem, Watermael-Boitsfort, and Etterbeek.
Please wear loose, comfortable clothing with long sleeves, long trousers (such as sweatpants), and clean socks. Shiatsu works deeper without direct skin contact. Touching the bare skin primarily stimulates the superficial nerves, which can disrupt the focus on deeper tissues. Through the clothing, I can better sense and support your internal balance.
You can change on-site.
No problem at all! While shiatsu is traditionally given on a futon, the session can also take place on a massage table. Please mention this during your online booking, and I will make sure the table is ready for you.
Certainly. You can receive shiatsu in various positions. For those who have difficulty lying on their stomach, the practice has an ergonomic Body Cushion with headrest, ensuring you lie softly and comfortably.
