Experience the power of simplicity
Reiki can be translated as ‘Universal Life Energy’, which is passed on through the laying on of hands. The founder of Reiki is Mikao Usui, a Japanese spiritual Master from the early 20th century.
Reiki is neither mysterious nor dangerous. The laying on of hands is one of the most basic human responses to offering comfort and relief.
During a session, my role as a Reiki practitioner is humble: I act as a channel for universal life energy. By grounding myself and being present in the moment, through a strong connection between the heart and the hara (abdomen), the universal energy I channel can flow gently. This creates flow — a moment often experienced as pure beauty.
Reiki invites relaxation and a natural flow of energy. The activation of the parasympathetic nervous system is part of the body’s natural response to rest and relaxation. A session is often experienced as soothing for physical, emotional, and mental tension. In this sense, Reiki is a holistic and complementary discipline.
However, Reiki is not a miracle solution. It primarily helps you rediscover your own strength and balance, and can offer more inner peace or space for new perspectives. What matters is how you integrate the experience of the session into your daily life afterwards.
Universal life energy can be considered the primal source of consciousness and unconditional love. We all carry these qualities within us, but they can become covered by layers of experience from painful life events.
Reiki is like a gentle breeze flowing through the energetic layers of the body. Little by little, what feels blocked is released, allowing your energy to flow freely again and your natural radiance to return.
I offer Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki sessions in the lineage of Mikao Usui – Chujiro Hayashi – Hawayo Takata – Phyllis Furumoto – Johannes Reindl.
I received my training and initiation from Frank and Kathy Coppieters, a wise and loving couple. Frank Coppieters became a Reiki Master under Paul Mitchell, who himself was initiated by Hawayo Takata and collaborated with Phyllis Furumoto.
During an in-person Reiki session, you will lie comfortably on a massage table, fully clothed. If you wish, I can play some soft background music. Throughout the session, I will gently place my hands on different parts of your body. It is a wonderful opportunity to do nothing at all: you can simply Be. It is primarily a moment of experience rather than thinking and reasoning.
During the hand placements, you may experience various sensations, all of which are perfectly normal, such as warmth, cold, tingling, yawning, emotions, insights, or tummy rumblings, for example.
When you have been under stress for a long time, Reiki can help you reconnect with your body and emotions. This can create space for greater awareness and for integrating what you have been experiencing. As part of this process, some people may temporarily experience mild tiredness, nausea, headaches, or emotions that feel more intense than usual.
For a remote session, you can stay in the comfort of your own home. We connect at the beginning and close the session together via video call or text message.
